Why our mission is so important…

Ever take a trip to the beach only to find it littered with more trash then sea shells? You know the drill, you pack up the family, food, sodas, beach toys, sunscreen, a beach lounger and something to read. The day nears its end, burnt to a crisp and exhausted you head home leaving all the left overs behind. Now close your eyes for a moment, go on close ‘em and imagine what the beaches would look like if no one ever came and picked up all that trash thats left behind day after day.Still dont see it? Here this may help…

You see

all across the globe its already happening. And this is why Make Mine Bluegreen’s mission is so important. Join us to combat this problem and keep our ocean bluegreen.

WHAT COLOR IS YOUR WORLD?

HAZMAT SAFETY COURSE:  HAZMAT classes are no longer being made available to the general publlic, anyone wanting to take the class must be under contract to begin employment.  We will keep you up to date should new classes be made available for this area again.

HURRICANE SEASON: PRE CLEAN TEAMS NEEDED FOR STAND-BY: - Hurricanes to Florida are as earthquakes are to California; its just goes with the territory. But with an oil spill that so far covers 1/3 of the Gulf of Mexico even a tropical wave could devistate our shores. While no it wont rain oil on your rooftop, it will disperse the oil to all of Florida’s coasts. Like a spinning top dipped in water the oil will be (spun out)pushed in every direction and with the storm surge bird and turtle nesting areas will be destroyed. So what does one do to help?

SIGN UP FOR ON CALL LOCAL CLEANUPS: MMBG along with Keep Pinellas Beautiful is on standby for a preclean orders should the oil start moving towards out shore (right now its 136miles offshore of Tampa, southerly winds has kept if from reaching the keys so far); having said that it will take a storm to bring to our shore, which will change out we are deployed for precleaning of our shores. Its kinda like playing routlette, no telling well the ball is going to drop so we need everyone to sign up for pre clean teams, to assure we have enought people who will be able to respond.

DONATE: We have received donated supplies from all over the country and we’ve been able to deliver these vitally needed supplies Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary in Indian Shores Florida, Gulf Shores Zoo in Alabama and 2 truck loads of supplies to the Tri-State Rehabilitation Responce Facility in Pensacola.
